An East London takeaway has been fined after it served a burger after 10pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BIM’S in Ilford Lane, Ilford, was given a fixed penalty notice amounting to \u00a31000 after a customer was served after 10pm. This apparently wasn’t the first time the shop was penalised for breaching certain rules either. The takeaway, after receiving the fine, said the Police should have been “more lenient”.<\/p>\n

The food was served at 22:04 according to reports, and was processed at 10pm. A spokesman for BIM’s said that the staff wouldn’t have served the food had they thought they were breaking the law, and that the Police have been a bit harsh. He also mentioned how a verbal warning would have sufficed, and that he’s\u00a0“sure staff would have taken that on board and in the future they wouldn’t serve somebody so close to the deadline”.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the Police said the officers who were out that night “became aware of a venue breaching a curfew as part of the coronavirus regulations with a member of the public still inside the premises.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Neighbourhood officers had previously engaged with staff at the premises on a number of occasions to explain the new regulations and encourage them to abide by them for the safety of themselves and the local community,” they said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
