A man has recently auctioned 28 bottles of whisky that his dad bought him over the years.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since his birth, 28 year old Matthew Robinson has been given a bottle of 18 year old Macallan whiskey every year for his birthday by his dad, now 64 year old Pete.<\/p>\n

Pete has Collectively spent over \u00a35000 on the collection, which she started in 1992 when Matthew was born. Now, though, the collection is worth over \u00a340,000 – that\u2019s some pretty expensive booze!<\/p>\n

As the whiskey brand grew in popularity, older and more exclusive bottles gained value. And, with the amount of whiskey Matthew has been sitting on, he has clearly benefited from this!<\/p>\n

Speaking about the gifts, he said: “I think it’s been one of the best things he could have done.<\/p>\n

“I never anticipated the potential it could have for me in my life.\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Neither could anyone else, really. Experts claim this is a unusual thing to happen, and simply buying bottles every year like Pete did doesn\u2019t usually end up with you sitting on a fortune in 30 years.<\/p>\n

Matthew continued: “I’m currently looking at buying houses and having that money available to me is a massive weight off my shoulders – especially in these uncertain times.<\/p>\n

“It’s just very special.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What probably made the gifts all the more special for Pete is that he works in the Malting industry himself, which means he probably had a part to play in the making of his sons alcohol.<\/p>\n

Malt company manger Pete revealed<\/span><\/span>: “Looking at the bottle, I realised that it would be quite interesting to collect 18 bottles over 18 years and then give my son the final bottle, which would be his birth year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“I also liked the idea that the materials I made would eventually be used in the making of the scotch.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“As time went by, I <\/span>realised<\/span> that the collection was starting to appreciate in value considerably and watched the brand with more interest.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The bottles are now being auctioned online for \u00a340,000 by a brokerage. Every bottle comes with the original packaging and papers, meaning their value will likely continue to rise if they\u2019re kept in this state.<\/p>\n

Mark <\/span>Littler, the auction brokerage, <\/span>said: “In the whisky and wine world, we call a consecutive run of vintages a vertical.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Normally it would take a lot of time and effort to amass a vertical like this, but this is<\/span><\/span>
\nthe opportunity for a collector to purchase them all instantly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“In addition<\/span> the Macallan 18-year-old is currently one of the most sought-after single malt Scotch whiskies in the world, so you’ve got a hot ticket item that is sure to be highly desirable to aspiring whisky collectors and investors.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
