Leeds is possibly a new cause for concern when it comes to the coronavirus.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The infection rate is creeping up in the city.<\/p><\/div>\n

There have been local lockdowns across the country, and Leeds\u00a0may\u00a0<\/em>be headed for a similar fate if numbers don\u2019t come down soon.<\/p>\n

The councillors themselves in Leeds have warned that residents and visitors must\u00a0make a “collective effort” to not allow themselves to be locked down again.<\/p>\n

Council leader Judith Blake said it was “a pivotal moment in our efforts to control the spread of the virus”.<\/p>\n

“Nobody wants to see further restrictions on life in Leeds,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The harsh reality is that if our infection rate continues to rise as it has been, we will be left with no alternative”.<\/p>\n

There were over 40 new cases confirmed in Leeds in the space of 1 day recently, which has made local authorities concerned about a potential local lockdown. They will continue to monitor the situation further, in the hopes that cases fall.<\/p>\n

She added: “This is a rise in all different wards across the city, particularly in young adults of all communities.<\/p>\n

“September is a critical time, we have our schools going back and then we have significant numbers of students travelling from all over the country and beyond to come back to our universities.”<\/p>\n

The rise in cases seem to reflect the coming together of the public again, as more people return to places such as work and school.<\/p>\n

Cases across the country, overall, seem to be steady, with cases rising in some areas, whilst falling in others.<\/p>\n

Worldwide, there are over 25 million cases, which is rising quickly by the day. Over 1\/4 of the overall cases are in the USA, with officials questioning how well they\u2019ve handled the pandemic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
