Deaths in relation to the coronavirus have now exceeded 148,000 in America – higher than anywhere else in the world.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The virus has been widespread in the States for a while now – more so than anywhere else in the world.<\/p><\/div>\n

With cases back on the rise worldwide, there\u2019s still good reason to be worried about the coronavirus. Some states in the USA have more cases than the whole United Kingdom; such as California and New York, with thousands of new cases being diagnosed every day.<\/p>\n

With 4.4 million cases in America, (past and present), they still lead by a long shot when it comes to who has the most cases.<\/p>\n

Despite having the most cases in the world, the US recently reported the lowest daily increase they\u2019ve had a for a while, whilst at the same time, numbers rising in certain states are rising faster than ever.<\/p>\n

Many scientists are working on a vaccine and say its essential that one is developed quickly, to prevent as many deaths and infections as possible.<\/p>\n

Moderna, a company who is developing a vaccine in the USA, is in the later stages of human testing now, where they say there\u2019s a 75% chance of it meeting the FDAs requirements of being 50% effective.<\/p>\n

The $2 billion deal was signed recently, and over 30,000 volunteers have been found who are willing to be tested on.<\/p>\n

As promising as this sounds however, there\u2019s no guarantee the vaccine will actually work. Oxford university is in a similar situation and it is also vaccine testing, so there are plenty of different ones around the world to be trailed – so here\u2019s hoping ones effective.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Coronavirus is a new and, until recently, a very poorly understood virus, so it would be naive to assume that medical companies can definitely come up with a vaccine 6 months into a pandemic. Historically, vaccine developments take much longer than that.<\/p>\n

Despite this, St\u00e9phane Bancel, Moderna\u2019s chief executive, has showed optimism in the vaccines potential, and said:\u00a0\u201cWe look forward to this trial demonstrating the potential of our vaccine to prevent Covid-19, so that we can defeat this pandemic.\u201d<\/p>\n

If the vaccines effective and passes the FDAs standards, then this vaccines development will be a great achievement for medical science, and an even greater one for the world in its current state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
