A man from the UK has recently discovered that his old Pokemon card collection is worth an eye watering \u00a335,000.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nigel never even liked pokemon!<\/p><\/div>\n

His mother gave him the cards back in 1999, after he stopped his little 7 year old brother getting swindled for his best cards. He didn\u2019t even like pokemon, but he took the reward anyways and I bet he\u2019s glad he did now!<\/p>\n

Nigel Brookes, the lucky collection owner, was totally unaware until recently of how much the collection was worth. He\u2019d been sitting on it for 21 years.<\/p>\n

Nigel, who has three children of his own now, said: “Jeremy [his younger brother] ran into the house showing off this new Pok\u00e9mon card he had traded with the kids on the street.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I knew straight away that what these kids had done is told Jeremy their cards were better and traded them with him for his cards, which were really rare.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I wasn’t actually that interested in Pok\u00e9mon.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He continued: “I was disappointed at the time because the collection was one of my birthday presents so to me it was waste of a present.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Little did I know they would be worth \u00a335,000 now, we have kept them in the family for over 20 years and now they’re going up for sale for a collector who will take care of them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“There are 103 cards in total, they are all in pristine condition and were bought direct from creators ‘Wizards Of The Coast’ in the US, and are all first edition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“My daughter Layla loves Pok\u00e9mon and did try to buy them all of me for \u00a36 – unfortunately that won’t cut it, and I’m sure she’ll appreciate why I said no in the future!”<\/p>\n

The collection is said to be auctioned off soon, with people all across the globe already interested. It\u2019s expected to bring anywhere from \u00a320k-\u00a335k upwards. It\u2019s been dubbed a holy grail of pokemon collections, as it\u2019s a very rare yet very sought after piece of pokemon history.<\/p>\n

Richard Winterton, who is set to be the lucky auctioneer at Lichfield Auction Centre, said: “The collection is estimated to fetch in the region of at least \u00a325,000 and \u00a335,000 and is viewed as something of a Holy Grail for serious Pok\u00e9mon aficionados all over the world.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nigel, is obviously very happy with the expected sale price, however he said: “It was a difficult decision to part ways because I’m sure in 20 years they’ll be worth double.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“My kids are growing up and I want to be able to give them a really special childhood. With this money we can really set ourselves up for the future.”<\/p>\n

“It is also scary having this collection. If there was a flood, they got damaged, lost, or ruined in some way, they wouldn’t be worth anything.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
