They have also given police the power to fine people \u00a360 for not obeying the rules.<\/p>\n<p>Media outlet LADBible posted a poll on twitter asking if they should be made mandatory, and well, the results speak for themselves.<\/p>\n<div class='besclwp-iframe-outer'>\n<div class='besclwp-iframe Twitter'>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Scotland has announced that wearing face masks in shops will be mandatory from July 10. I personally didn\u2019t think so many people thought they were such a necessity when out and about in shops; I barely see them anymore.<\/p>\n<p>But obviously more people want them to be made mandatory than you think, and as mentioned before, the Scottish first minister has already done that. Announcing the move, she said: &#8220;We have proceeded for a period with a voluntary approach to this.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>&#8220;Some people are complying and some are not, I&#8217;m not pointing fingers or trying to blame people for that but we have to make a judgement if we&#8217;re heading into a period where more people are interacting. And we&#8217;ve been having a discussion with more sectors like retail about reducing distancing, and that increases the importance of mitigations like face coverings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>The mayor of London sees this as the \u201cright\u201d move too, with other MPs and the prime minister growing ever more fond of face masks, and their proven benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Sadiq Khan added: &#8220;<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">This is the right move by <\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Nicola Sturgeon<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">.
