Three days later they received the news of their win, they found out their 15-year-old son, Ewan, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in May, was cancer free.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/624\/cpsprodpb\/10F98\/production\/_110382596_winnders.jpg\" alt=\"Allison, Ewan and John McDonald\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since the win, they have both handed in their notices at work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is just like all of our lifelong dreams came true in the space of three days,&#8221; Mr McDonald said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What a start to 2020. Everyone always dreams of winning the lottery at Christmas &#8211; and talks about how amazing this would be &#8211; but Allison and I never believed it would happen to us &#8211; and it has.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And then to receive news that Ewan&#8217;s latest scans are all clear is just truly amazing.
