{"id":152163,"date":"2020-07-01T15:23:05","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T14:23:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/?p=152163"},"modified":"2020-07-01T15:23:19","modified_gmt":"2020-07-01T14:23:19","slug":"other-uk-areas-are-close-to-being-locked-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/other-uk-areas-are-close-to-being-locked-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Other UK Areas Are Close To Being Locked Down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After Leicester was locked down recently, it seems other areas in the UK are at risk of receiving the same fate.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PHE says that they are focusing a lot of attention on areas showing high numbers of new cases, just like Leicester was, and says these areas could also be put under restrictions in a number of \u201cdays\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Bradford and Barnsley are the two areas just behind Leicester when it comes to cases, so they are at the most risk of a further lockdown at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>However, unlike officials in Leicester who actually challenged the government to lock them down further, Barnsley officials believe a lockdown of their area is not necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Barnsley&#8217;s director of public health Julia Burrows and Sir Steve Houghton said in a joint statement: &#8220;According to our most up to date data, we have seen a reduction in the number of daily new cases and in the average number of new cases for four consecutive days.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are continuing to monitor this and other data very closely, and to proactively manage the disease locally and in line with national guidance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is why we do not believe at this stage any further measures will need to be implemented such as the ones seen in Leicester.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite rising cases in some parts of the country, there are plenty of places where the virus is become uncommon.
