A fundraising page set up for the police officers who was killed whilst investigating a report of a burglary has gone over \u00a3100,000 in just one day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

PC Andrew Harper, 28, died on Thursday in Sulhamstead when he was dragged along the road by a vehicle. Ten males aged between 13 and 30 have been held in police custody on suspicion of murder. Thames Valley Police said on Saturday it had been granted an extra 36 hours to question the suspects.<\/span><\/p>\n

A post mortem found PC Harper died of multiple injuries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flowers have been left at the roadside by colleagues and the public – one message reads<\/strong>: “Harps, I am truly gutted. A great cop, a great man, a great friend.<\/span><\/p>\n

“There will always be a part of my heart missing now. RIP mate, love you.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The fundraising page was set up by the Thames Valley Police and the page says:<\/strong> “We confront danger on a daily basis. We know there is a risk when we put on the uniform but we do so as we are proud to protect the public.<\/span>“Sadly on very rare and horrendous occasions a colleague makes the ultimate sacrifice. We will ensure that heroism is never forgotten.”<\/span><\/p>\n

A forensic team have spent most of the weekend searching the grass and surrounding area for evidence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday Thames Valley Police’s Det Supt Ailsa Kent said in a statement:<\/span><\/strong> “[That] is consistent with our current belief that Andrew was caught between a vehicle and the road and then dragged for a distance,”<\/span><\/p>\n

She said it was unclear how PC Harper “came to be out of his vehicle and then caught under the suspect vehicle”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andrew Harper is the first police officer to die on duty since the stabbing to death of PC Keith Palmer in London in March 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

PC Harper was just recently married and was due to be going on his honeymoon soon.<\/span><\/p>\n
