{"id":133290,"date":"2020-06-10T16:42:37","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T15:42:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/?p=133290"},"modified":"2020-06-10T16:43:17","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T15:43:17","slug":"banned-driver-flips-car-killing-pedestrian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/banned-driver-flips-car-killing-pedestrian\/","title":{"rendered":"Banned Driver Flips Car, Killing Pedestrian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A banned driver in the UK was being chased by police before he crashed the vehicle he was driving, hitting a pedestrian in the process.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The victim was sadly hit at around 5:30pm last night, and sadly died due to the crash, where a criminal fleeing in a Peugeot 307 lost control of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_133289\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-133289\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-133289\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/55CF8605-F078-45AF-BDB7-1DB95ACD704D-300x162.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-133289\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The scene of the crash.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>You can see from the picture the extent of the damage.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened in West Yorkshire near Leeds, after the driver was signalled to pull over by police, but instead put his foot down which led to a chase being initiated. And sadly, as shown above, it ended with the driver crashing, and hitting a person. The 22 year old driver is now being held in custody with suspicion of death by dangerous driving being one of the charges. The man reportedly didn\u2019t know he\u2019d hit a pedestrian until he was told.<\/p>\n<p>A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson stated: \u201cAt 5:18pm police officers in a marked roads policing vehicle signalled for a Peugeot 307 to stop in East Ardsley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit began.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA short time later the Peugeot and a male pedestrian on Leeds Road, Outwood were in collision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe male pedestrian died as a result at the scene. The driver of the vehicle suffered what are believed to be minor injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeeds Road is currently closed in Wakefield from Canal Lane to Broad Meadows as enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting log 1253 of Tuesday, June 9.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to the nature of the incident a mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A banned driver in the UK was being chased by police before he crashed the vehicle he was driving, hitting a pedestrian in the process.
