The Country has been ruled by a military council since the deposing of President Omar al-Bashir on 11 April 2019. When the Coup, led by Lt General Ahmed Awad Ibn Auf took place, the government was dissolved and the constitution suspended with the aim of a two-year transition period back to civilian rule.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".s5qqbp3dy8.3.0.0.1.0.$lx-commentary.$lx-commentary.2.0.1.1:$post-5cdc10d9c73885067942c939.0.3.0.0:$post_1\">The latest agreement has changed this to a three-year transitional administration with a parliament dominated by opposition groups, however, the Military remains and appear to intend to hold top tier control during these three years.<\/p>\n<p data-reactid=\".s5qqbp3dy8.3.0.0.1.0.$lx-commentary.$lx-commentary.2.0.1.1:$post-5cdc10d9c73885067942c939.0.3.0.0:$post_7\">The situation has led to considerable unrest and a number of civilian deaths of late.
