It was initially suggested that by mid June hairdressers would be back open, but with workers wearing dentist style PPE. But yesterday, the PMs spokesperson revealed that indeed the earliest hairdressers would be allowed to open is July.

The PM’s spokesperson said: “It is correct to say we are working as quickly as we can to get hairdressers up and running safely and that is one of the areas which we have a ministerial led task force focused upon.

“But as we have set out in the road map it is our ambition to reopen them from July at the earliest. And that will be subject to the scientific advice at the time.”

The salons have been closed since late March, around the time Lockdown was imposed, and still almost 3 months on it’s still unsafe for them to open. Even now, in June, it still wouldn’t be safe for both staff and clients to get their hair cut, as so many different people would be coming in and out of the store during the day. And because many Coronavirus patients are Asymptomatic, there could be many people spreading viruses around salons without knowing.

But still people up and down the country have been finding alternate ways of getting a trim. Many have had other house members cutting their hair for them… with some interesting results.

As irritating it is that we can’t do some of these basic things we have to remember the reasons why we’re doing this. Some people aren’t fortunate enough to have immune systems strong enough to fight off the Coronavirus. Whether that’s due to age or underlying health conditions. So it’s our responsibility, and the governments responsibility to keep fellow brits safe during these time’s by carefully easing lockdown, and not rushing things unnecessarily.

The government has suggested that the earliest you’ll be able to get your hair cut is July.
