Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd is to be sent back to the UK after agreeing to his extradition from Georgia.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old went on the run before his trial where he was found guilty of the manslaughter of Charlotte Brown. After months of hiding in Tbilisi, he handed himself into police and was jailed for three months. He has been granted the right to appeal against his conviction in the UK.<\/p>\n

The court heard Shepherd’s extradition order was based on both the manslaughter offences and a seperate assault charge. Defence lawyers said Shepherd agreed to be extradited, however, only if his safety was taken into consideration by the judge.<\/p>\n

Prosecutor Naniko Zazunashvili\u00a0 said: “He knew the boat was not in good working order and knew Charlotte Brown had no skills to control the boat – and he let her control the boat.<\/p>\n

“While being on board the boat Jack Shepherd took obligation to take care of Charlotte Brown, but this obligation was violated.<\/p>\n

“He knew boat was in poor working order.”<\/p>\n

Shepherd and Ms Brown met through a dating website called OkCupid. On their first date in December 2015 they had went for dinner at London’s Shard skyscraper before Shepherd took Ms Brown on his speed boat. On mobile phone footage that was filmed during the date Ms Brown could be heard shouting that they were going “so fast” as Shepherd drove at more than double the speed limit for boats.\u00a0The speedboat which Shepherd told police was to pull women hit a submerged log and tipped over, it sprung them both into the water. Shepherd was found clinging to the hull but Ms Brown was pulled from the water unconscious and she died in hospital.<\/p>\n
