Police were called around 22:15 hrs on Thursday, 31 January to a park area close to\u00a0Roman Road\/Saxon Road, E6 to reports of an abandoned baby. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended; the baby girl was taken to an east London hospital where she is being cared for.<\/p>\n
The newborn was found abandoned in a shopping bag in overnight temperatures and was discovered by\u00a0a woman walking her dog, who heard the baby crying in a play area off Roman Road at 22:15 GMT.<\/p>\n
Hospital staff have called the baby Roman after where she was found.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Inspector Shane Clarke of North East Command Unit<\/strong>, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for your welfare and I urge you to make contact either with police, your local hospital or GP surgery. It is really important that we know that you are safe.<\/p>\n “I would also urge anyone who has information that could help us to reunite this baby with her mother to come forward.”<\/p>\n The child is still at east London hospital and at this moment in time she is stable.
