{"id":11139,"date":"2019-01-28T09:52:37","date_gmt":"2019-01-28T09:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/?p=11139"},"modified":"2019-01-28T09:53:02","modified_gmt":"2019-01-28T09:53:02","slug":"trevor-the-worlds-loneliest-duck-has-died","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/trevor-the-worlds-loneliest-duck-has-died\/","title":{"rendered":"Trevor, The Worlds Loneliest Duck, Has Died"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Trevor was something of a local celebrity in Niue for being the only duck living on the tiny island.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/660\/cpsprodpb\/87BA\/production\/_105364743_41440931_2196574140417666_5390287486666670080_n.jpg\" alt=\"Trevor the Duck\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Trevor<\/p><\/div>\n<p>No ones really sure how, but he arrived in 2018, and lived in a small puddle until his untimely death.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There are no rivers, streams or lakes here, so Trevor chose to live in a puddle,&#8221; said a local.<\/p>\n<p>And though he has seen as the world&#8217;s loneliest duck, it seemed he was anything but lonely.<\/p>\n<p>Trevor&#8217;s puddle was regularly checked on by concerned locals and even the island&#8217;s fire brigade, who would fill it up if water levels got too low.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He regularly flew around to visit locals on their lawns and enjoyed the tasty treats they offered. He would be fed peas, corns and oats.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Trevor recently passed away after being attacked by local dogs; he will be severely missed by the locals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After a year driving around with a bag of oats in my car I will miss the stops on the way to and from work to feed Trevor.
