{"id":10326,"date":"2018-12-13T10:34:37","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T10:34:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/?p=10326"},"modified":"2018-12-13T10:34:37","modified_gmt":"2018-12-13T10:34:37","slug":"turkey-train-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/news\/turkey-train-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Turkey Train Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A horrific high-speed train crash at a station in the Turkish capital Ankara has killed at least nine people and injured 47.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 670px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ichef.bbci.co.uk\/news\/660\/cpsprodpb\/1678E\/production\/_104764029_gettyimages-1072325816.jpg\" alt=\"Rescue workers search the wreckage for survivors\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">A picture of the incident.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pictures from the tragic incident show firefighters and paramedics desperately trying to rescue survivors in the wreckage.\u00a0 Reports quoting local officials said the high speed train had crashed another train, then proceeded to hit an overpass.\u00a0The accident occurred at about 06:30 Turkish time (03:30 GMT).<\/p>\n<p>The crash happened at the Marsandiz railway station, around 8km (5 miles) from Ankara&#8217;s main station.<\/p>\n<p>At a recent news conference, Vasip Sahin, the governor of the capital,\u00a0 said the train was travelling from Ankara to the southern city of Konya when it collided with a locomotive inspecting tracks at the station.<\/p>\n<p>Three train drivers were among nine people killed in the crash, according to Turkish Transport Minister Cahit Turhan. Its also been reported that 206 passengers were on board the train.
