The only game of the week was the annual “Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy” clash between the Black Knights and the Midshipmen. It went according to form as Navy ran all over Army to end their regular season with a 10-2 record.<\/p>\n

The game itself was almost totally devoid of passing with Navy racking up a whole yard of passing (yes one yard) and that went for a TD!<\/p>\n

For those fans of statistics, the passing yard was thrown by Wide Receiver Chance Warren who had all the ones.\u00a0 One attempt, one completion for one yard and one TD. I doubt we will see a stat like that again ever.<\/p>\n

That was his only TD of the year but as a passer, he is 2-3 with a TD on the year giving him a passer rating of 229.5 probably the highest in the FBS. By comparison Heisman winner Joe Burrows had a rating of 201.5 and Tua Tagovailoa’s was 206.9.\u00a0 Meaningless I know given the three attempts but just shows how crazy stats can be at times.<\/p>\n

Army Struggle through the air<\/h3>\n

Army who have had a bit of a disappointing season fared little better through the air amassing 25 yards and an interception. However, they did lead 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter before Navy woke up and gt their ground game going.<\/p>\n

They finished the season with a 5-8 record which sees them miss a bowl game for the first time since 2015. This was a bit of a surprise as they started so well going 3-1 and that loss being on the road to the then number seven ranked Michigan by 3 points in double OT.<\/p>\n

The final 31-7 score in no way flattered Navy and their QB Malcolm Perry was our man of the match rushing for 304 yards.<\/p>\n

The Midshipmen are now on their way to the Liberty Bowl<\/a> where they will have the chance to round off a nice season in The Liberty Bowl. They get the chance for a win over a Power Five team – The Big 12s Kansas State.<\/p>\n
