This keeps up their pattern of winning the ALDS every two years! However, the Astros got their pitching sorted out and after giving up 25 runs in the opening three games they held the Red Sox to only three runs in the remaining games and only 10 hits!<\/p>\n<p>Astros leadoff pitcher Luis Gracia who had a complete disaster in game two more than made up for it on Friday pitching a solid 5.2 innings in which he only gave up one hit. That was pretty crucial as Houston only had a one-run lead before the call to the bullpen came.<\/p>\n<p>The final game remained quite tense until the play below seemed to break the Red Sox spirit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/streamable.com\/m\/astros-turn-key-dp-in-7th-inning\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Houston effectively iced the game with a three-run blast in the 8th and they had the luxury of a walk-off win.<\/p>\n<h3>Full series<\/h3>\n<p><strong>15th October Boston 4 Houston 5 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>16th October Boston 9 Houston 5<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>18th October Houston 3 Boston 12<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>19th October Houston 9 Boston 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>20th October Houston 9 Boston 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>22nd October Houston 5 Boston 0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s off to the final for the Astro&#8217;s who will face either the Atlanta Braves or the LA Dodgers who they beat in the 2017 series. The Red Sox on the other hand now have several months lament on whether they should have joined the July deadline deals scrum. After all, as their pitching rotation did seem to run out of steam.
