The 2021 MLB Free Agency merry-go-round is now in full swing and up until the close of business on the 9th January 2021, no less than 25 Free Agency moves had been completed (including re-signings).\u00a0 The 2019 champions the Washington Nationals have been busy as have the NY Yankees, who will be looking to reclaim the AL East title in 2021 after a few lean years by their standards.<\/p>\n

Of the teams involved the NY Yankees have been busiest adding Socrates Brito, Andrew Velazquez & Nestor Cortes Jr. as well as adding a bit of veteran pitching depth by offering Jhoulys Chacin<\/a> and Tyler Lyons<\/a> minor league contracts.<\/p>\n

The 2019 World Series Champions<\/a> Washington Nationals look like they are aiming to compete again this year having acquired Left Fielder Kyle Schwarber from the Chicago Cubs.\u00a0 They have agreed on 1-year, $10 million contract with an option for 2022. This looks like a decent deal for both sides given Schwarber is only 27 and was a member of the Cubs 2016 World Series team. They have also added pitcher Luis Avilan from the Yankees.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh looks like they are going to tear it down and start again after their dismal 19 win season the worst record in the whole of the MLB all be it on a shortened season. Three players have left already and adding Chase De Jong on a minor league contract doesn’t scream ambition to us!<\/p>\n

Five of the MLB Free Agency moves so far have bee re-signing and here the Phillies lead the way having retained Christian Bethancourt & Ronald Torreyes.<\/p>\n
