Aston Villa’s great run of form continued over the Bank Holiday the weekend as they beat struggling Millwall 1-0 not only cementing their playoff position but also making it a remarkable 10 wins in a row, a new club record. Their turnaround has been one of the talking points of the season and back on 23rd February when they were losing 1-0 at Stoke at half time all but the most optimistic fan was resigned to a season of mid-table mediocrity.\u00a0 However, they managed to scrape a draw in that one and that was the turning point. In their record-setting 10 match winning run they have only conceded 5 goals and the wins have included resounding home wins over fellow playoff contenders Derby & Middlesborough.<\/p>\n

They are now pretty much guaranteed a playoff place against Midlands rivals West Bromwich (as the only teams who could theoretically catch them Derby & Bristol City play each other next), and with longtime leaders Leeds fading fast they must now be favourites for that golden ticket back to the Premier League after a three year absence.<\/p>\n
