{"id":2649,"date":"2023-03-10T12:11:33","date_gmt":"2023-03-10T12:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/?p=2649"},"modified":"2023-03-10T12:11:33","modified_gmt":"2023-03-10T12:11:33","slug":"slow-cooker-sausage-casserole","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/slow-cooker-sausage-casserole\/general\/","title":{"rendered":"Slow cooker sausage casserole"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a> Foods!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-ingredients__heading gel-double-pica\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp vegetable or\u00a0sunflower oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 medium\u00a0onion, thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">12 chipolata\u00a0sausages<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">3\u20134 medium\u00a0carrots, around 300g\/10\u00bdoz, peeled and cut into 2cm\/\u00bein slices<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">600g\/1lb 5oz medium\u00a0floury potatoes, preferably Maris Piper, peeled and cut into 3\u20134cm\/1\u00bdin chunks<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">400g tin\u00a0chopped tomatoes<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">200ml\/7fl oz hot chicken or\u00a0vegetable stock, made with 1 stock cube<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">3 tbsp\u00a0tomato pur\u00e9e<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0dried mixed herbs<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">salt and freshly ground\u00a0black pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-method__heading gel-double-pica\">Method<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large non-stick frying pan and fry the onion over a high heat for 4 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Tip into the slow cooker.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the remaining oil to the frying pan and fry the sausages over a medium-high heat for 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">While the sausages are frying, add the carrots, potatoes and chopped tomatoes to the slow cooker.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Mix the hot stock with the tomato pur\u00e9e and herbs.
