class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1\u00bd tsp table\u00a0salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0bicarbonate of soda<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">425ml\/\u00be pint\u00a0buttermilk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"recipe-ingredients__sub-heading gel-great-primer-bold\">For the Cullen skink<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">50g\/1\u00beoz\u00a0butter, plus extra to serve<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1\u00a0onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1.2 litres\/2 pints full-fat\u00a0milk<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">750g\/1lb 10oz\u00a0floury potatoes\u00a0(Maris Piper or King Edward), peeled and cut into 2cm\/\u00bein cubes<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">450g\/1lb undyed\u00a0smoked haddock\u00a0loin, skin and any bones removed<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp chopped\u00a0parsley<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">salt and freshly ground\u00a0pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-method__heading gel-double-pica\">Method<\/h2>\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Before starting this, make sure to preheat the oven to 200C\/180C Fan\/Gas 6 and grease a large baking tray.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">For the soda bread, begin by sifting the dry ingredients into a large bowl.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Tip in the buttermilk and mix until you have a soft dough.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">With minimum kneading, shape the dough into a 5\u20136cm thick disc.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Using a knife, cut a cross on the top cutting through about half of the dough.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Dust the top with a little more flour.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Place on the greased baking tray and bake for about 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Crusty and the loaf sounds hollow when the bottom is tapped.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Allow to cool on a wire rack.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Meanwhile, to make the Cullen skink, melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Once hot, add the onion and cook gently for 8 minutes until softened.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the milk and bring to a boil, tip in the potatoes and simmer for 10\u201315 minutes until very soft.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Using the back of a spoon, crush a few of the potatoes against the side of the pan help thicken the soup a little.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the smoked haddock to the pan and simmer for a further 4 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Stir in the parsley and season with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Serve sprinkled with a little more parsley with still-warm buttered soda bread
