{"id":2449,"date":"2022-12-20T16:40:16","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T16:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/?p=2449"},"modified":"2022-12-20T16:40:16","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T16:40:16","slug":"christmas-stilton-and-sage-canapes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/christmas-stilton-and-sage-canapes\/christmas\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Stilton and sage canap\u00e9s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a> Foods!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-ingredients__heading gel-double-pica\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">125g\/4\u00bdoz\u00a0self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">\u00bd tsp\u00a0baking powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">25g\/1oz\u00a0butter, cubed and softened<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">50g\/1\u00beoz\u00a0Parmesan, finely grated<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0mustard powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tbsp\u00a0sage, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp\u00a0milk<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 free-range\u00a0egg, beaten, plus 1 free-range\u00a0egg, beaten, to glaze<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">150g\/5\u00bdoz\u00a0Stilton, grated<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 jar\u00a0cranberry sauce<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">70 small fresh flatleaf\u00a0parsley\u00a0leaves<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">salt and freshly ground\u00a0black pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-method__heading gel-double-pica\">Method<\/h2>\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Before starting this, make sure to preheat the oven to 200C\/180C Fan\/Gas 6 and line a baking tray with baking paper.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Put the flour, baking powder and butter in a bowl.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Rub in the butter using your fingertips until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Stir in the Parmesan, mustard powder and sage and season with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Mix the milk with the egg in a small bowl or jug. Pour into the breadcrumb mixture and bring the dough together with your hands. Gently knead into a soft dough.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Roll out on a lightly floured work surface until it is about 1\u20131.5cm\/\u00bd\u2013\u00bein thick. Cut out scones using a 3cm\/1\u00bcin round cutter.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">You may need to gather the cuttings and re-roll to make 35 scones.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Place on the baking tray and brush the tops with the egg glaze. Bake for about 8 minutes or until pale golden and risen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Leave to cool on a wire rack.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Slice each scone in half widthways and place back on the baking tray. Top each half with some of the Stilton.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Return to the oven for about 2\u20133 minutes to melt slightly.
