{"id":2404,"date":"2022-12-06T10:41:53","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T10:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/?p=2404"},"modified":"2022-12-06T10:41:53","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T10:41:53","slug":"kidney-bean-meatless-balls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/kidney-bean-meatless-balls\/general\/","title":{"rendered":"Kidney bean meatless balls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a> Foods!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-ingredients__heading gel-double-pica\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"recipe-ingredients__sub-heading gel-great-primer-bold\">For the meatless balls<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">400g tin red\u00a0kidney beans, drained and rinsed<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">50g\/1\u00beoz fresh white\u00a0breadcrumbs<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">\u00bd tsp\u00a0garlic\u00a0powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">\u00bd tsp\u00a0onion\u00a0powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">\u00bd tsp fine sea salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 large free-range\u00a0egg yolk<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">generous pinch of cayenne pepper<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1\u20132 tbsp extra virgin\u00a0olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">freshly ground black pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"recipe-ingredients__sub-heading gel-great-primer-bold\">For the sauce<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">400g tin\u00a0chopped tomatoes<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">\u00bd tsp hot\u00a0smoked paprika<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">\u00bd tsp\u00a0caster sugar<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp extra virgin\u00a0olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 heaped tbsp\u00a0basil, plus extra to garnish (or whatever herbs you have)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"recipe-ingredients__sub-heading gel-great-primer-bold\">To serve<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">crusty\u00a0bread<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-method__heading gel-double-pica\">Method<\/h2>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Blend the kidney beans with the breadcrumbs, garlic and onion powders, salt, egg yolk, and cayenne pepper in a food processor with a little salt and pepper until the mixture comes together.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Don\u2019t allow it to become too smooth.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Roll the mixture into 12 small balls.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Heat 1 tablespoon of the oil in a large non-stick frying pan and fry the balls for 5\u20136 minutes over low-medium heat.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add a little more oil if needed.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Meanwhile, to make the sauce, put the tomatoes, paprika, sugar, and olive oil in a medium saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Cook for 3 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Season with salt and pepper and stir in the chopped coriander and basil.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the meatballs to the sauce and simmer together for 2 minutes more.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add a splash of water to loosen the sauce if needed.
