Season with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Transfer the vegetables to the slow cooker, sprinkle over the flour and stir well. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato pur\u00e9e, chili flakes, and pesto, if using, and stir again.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Pour over the stock and stir.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Cover and cook on high for 4 hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">After the hotpot has been cooking for 3\u00bd hours, make the dumplings.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Put the flour in a large mixing bowl and season with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Coarsely grate one-quarter of the frozen butter into the flour. Toss the mixture to coat the butter lightly in the flour.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the remaining butter in three more batches, grating and tossing it in the same way. This should prevent the dumpling dough from clumping and yield light.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Stir in enough cold water to bring the mixture together as a soft, squidgy dough.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Divide into 12 equally sized pieces and roll each into a ball.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Remove the lid from the slow cooker, stir in the spinach until wilted, then arrange the dumplings gently on top.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Replace the lid and continue to cook on high for a further 30 minutes, or until the dumplings are puffed up and fluffy.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Spoon the hotpot onto serving plates with the dumplings on top.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"recipe-tips\" class=\"recipe-extra-information__wrapper gel-wrap\">\n<div class=\"recipe-extra-information__item gel-layout\">\n<div class=\"gel-layout__item gel-1\/1\"><em><strong>Banner and Image Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by BBC Foods!
