{"id":2296,"date":"2022-11-01T16:54:16","date_gmt":"2022-11-01T16:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/?p=2296"},"modified":"2022-11-01T16:54:16","modified_gmt":"2022-11-01T16:54:16","slug":"healthy-steak-pie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/healthy-steak-pie\/general\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthy steak pie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a> Foods!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-ingredients__heading gel-double-pica\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">320g\/11\u00bdoz sheet ready-rolled\u00a0puff pastry\u00a0(you will only use half)<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0milk<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">3 tsp\u00a0sunflower oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">250g\/9oz thin frying\u00a0steaks, cut into roughly 2cm\/\u00bein pieces<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1\u00a0onion, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">500g\/1lb 2oz\u00a0chestnut mushrooms, halved or quartered if large<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">4 tsp\u00a0plain flour<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0garlic\u00a0powder (or 1\u00a0garlic\u00a0clove, crushed)<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">350ml\/12fl oz\u00a0beef stock\u00a0(made with 1\u00a0beef stock\u00a0cube)<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tbsp\u00a0tomato pur\u00e9e<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0Worcestershire sauce<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp\u00a0dried mixed herbs<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">salt and freshly ground\u00a0black pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-method__heading gel-double-pica\">Method<\/h2>\n<p>Before starting this, make sure to preheat the oven to 220C\/200C Fan\/Gas 7.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Line a baking tray with baking paper.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Unroll the pastry and cut in half. Re-roll one half, wrap in foil and set aside or freeze for another time.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Cut the remaining piece into 10 long strips.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Place the pastry strips on the lined tray, weaving in and out to make a criss-cross lattice.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Turn a 1 litre\/1\u00be pint pie dish or tin upside-down on top of the lattice and cut around it.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Leaving roughly 2cm\/\u00bein on each side to allow for shrinkage.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Remove the dish or tin, brush the pastry with a little milk and bake for 15\u201320 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">To make the filling, heat 1 teaspoon of the oil in a large frying pan over a high heat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Season the sliced beef all over with freshly ground black pepper. Fry the beef for just 2 minutes, or until lightly browned, and transfer to a plate.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Return the pan to the heat, add the remaining oil and fry the onion and mushrooms for 5 minutes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Sprinkle over the flour and garlic powder and stir well.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Slowly add the stock, just a little at a time, stirring all the time.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the tomato pur\u00e9e, Worcestershire sauce and dried herbs and bring to a simmer.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Cook for 5 minutes, stirring regularly, then stir in the beef, heat through for a few seconds and immediately remove from the heat.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Spoon the beef filling into the pie dish, top with the cooked puff pastry and serve.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em><strong>Banner and Image Credit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by BBC Foods!
