{"id":2270,"date":"2022-10-14T12:13:48","date_gmt":"2022-10-14T12:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/?p=2270"},"modified":"2022-10-14T12:13:48","modified_gmt":"2022-10-14T12:13:48","slug":"slow-cooked-lamb-daleem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/slow-cooked-lamb-daleem\/general\/","title":{"rendered":"Slow-cooked lamb daleem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is made possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/\">BBC<\/a> Food!<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-ingredients__heading gel-double-pica\">Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">200g\/7oz porridge\u00a0oats<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">200ml\/7fl oz\u00a0olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 large\u00a0cinnamon\u00a0sticks<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">3\u00a0bay leaves<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tbsp\u00a0cumin\u00a0seeds<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">3 large\u00a0onions, finely chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp\u00a0salt<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">190g jar chopped\u00a0garlic, drained<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">180g jar chopped\u00a0ginger, drained<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp\u00a0garam masala<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tsp ground\u00a0turmeric<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1 tbsp\u00a0chilli powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">2 tbsp ground\u00a0coriander<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">400g tin\u00a0green lentils, drained<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">1kg\/2lb 4oz boneless\u00a0lamb, diced (such as shoulder or neck)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"recipe-ingredients__sub-heading gel-great-primer-bold\">To serve<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"recipe-ingredients__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">fresh\u00a0ginger, cut into thin sticks<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">green\u00a0chillies, sliced<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-ingredients__list-item\">lemon wedges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"recipe-method__heading gel-double-pica\">Method<\/h2>\n<p>Before starting this dish, make sure to preheat the oven to 190C\/180C Fan\/Gas 5.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Put a large frying pan over a high heat, add the oats.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Remove the pan from the heat and set aside.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Put a large flameproof casserole over a medium heat. Add the oil and when it is hot, add the cinnamon, bay leaves and cumin seeds.<\/p>\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">As soon as the spices start to sizzle, add the onions and salt and mix.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">Add the garlic, ginger, garam masala, turmeric, chilli, ground coriander, lentils and lamb.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mix well and pour in 1.5 litres of water. Add the toasted oats, put the lid on and transfer to the oven for 3 hours.\n<ol class=\"recipe-method__list\">\n<li>Check after 1 hour and add more water.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>After another hour, give the curry a good stir and add a little more water if necessary. Return to the oven for the final hour.<\/li>\n<li class=\"recipe-method__list-item\">\n<p class=\"recipe-method__list-item-text\">The lamb should be cooked until it\u2019s falling apart. Stir the curry to break up the pieces of lamb.
