So, here\u2019s a spiced lamb shank recipe. It\u2019s easy to make, and doesn\u2019t take long to prep.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-md section-heading-1\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<section>\n<ul class=\"list\">\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">1\u00bd tbsp olive oil<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">2 lamb shanks<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">3 slices\u00a0onions<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">4 sliced\u00a0garlic cloves<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">\u00bd cinnamon stick<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">1 tbsp each cumin and coriander seeds, crushed<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">pinch of chilli flakes<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">400g can chopped tomatoes<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">500ml chicken or vegetable stock<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">2 tbsp pomegranate molasses<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">4 dried apricots, chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">4 dried figs,\u00a0chopped<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xxs pt-xxs list-item list-item--separator\">handful coriander, chopped<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_1319\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1319\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1319\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2020\/10\/16E3CDCD-27F1-4A17-96B2-E73A4E17B7C7-300x273.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2020\/10\/16E3CDCD-27F1-4A17-96B2-E73A4E17B7C7-300x273.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.fiveminutesspare.com\/food\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2020\/10\/16E3CDCD-27F1-4A17-96B2-E73A4E17B7C7.jpeg 440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1319\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Example.<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"mb-xs section-heading-1\"><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"grouped-list\">\n<ul class=\"grouped-list__list list\">\n<li class=\"pb-xs pt-xs list-item\">Heat oven to 180C\/160C fan\/gas 4. Add 1 tbsp oil to a small, tight-lidded casserole and brown shanks for a couple of mins, turning as you go. Remove and set aside.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xs pt-xs list-item\">Add remaining oil and onions to the pan and cook for about 10 mins until soft. Add garlic and spices and cook for 4 mins more. Tip in tomatoes and stock, then nestle the shanks back in on their sides. Bring to a boil, cover and put in the oven. Cook for 2 hrs: turn the shanks now and then.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xs pt-xs list-item\">Remove the lid and stir through the molasses, apricots and figs. Cook, uncovered, for around 30 mins more or until the meat is falling away from the bone.<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-xs pt-xs list-item\">Remove shanks from the dish and wrap in foil to keep warm. Put the dish back onto the heat and cook down the juices until thick and saucy.
