Beth Smith is a fictional character from the Adult Swim animated TV show, Rick and Morty<\/a> voiced by actress Sarah Chalke<\/a>. Beth Smith is the Mother of Morty Smith and Summer Smith, The Wife\/Partner of Jerry Smith and the Daughter of Rick Sanchez and Dianne Sanchez.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Who is Beth Smith?<\/h3>\n

Beth Smith features as one of the five main characters in Rick and Morty. Her Mother, Dianne Sanchez, was murdered by a version of her Father, Rick Sanchez, from an alternate dimension. Her father, Rick, is a scientist who is regularly described as the smartest man in the universe and has invented a portal gun that allows him to travel through time, space and other dimensions.<\/p>\n

Rick explains that Beth was a psychopath who asked him to invent several weapons and tools to cause mayhem and destruction as a child. To keep the community safe from Beth, he created a world called \"Froopyland\", where Beth could be kept safe, and the community kept safe from Beth.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Rick describes her as \"Bright-Eyed\" and very intelligent. Beth had aspirations to become a heart surgeon. However, on prom night, at the age of 17, she became pregnant with Summer Smith with her future husband, Jerry Smith.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

As a young mother, Beth could not reach her full potential and instead went to veterinary school, where she specialised as a heart surgeon for horses. At the age of 20, Beth and Jerry had their Second child Morty Smith.<\/p>\n

Beth has a difficult relationship with her children and is often referenced as absent from a large part of Summer and Morty's Childhood due to work commitments, which mirrors Beth's relationship with her father.<\/p>\n

Beth struggles with accepting her reality on multiple occasions and is offered a clone of herself, so she explores the universe and other dimensions. She takes up the offer, but we are unaware of which Beth is the clone as Rick deliberately mixes them upon creation.<\/p>\n

Beth's relationship with Jerry is very turbulent towards the first part of the show when the two separate and Jerry leaves the family home. However, they get back together and become a sex-positive couple, where they watch porn together and even participate in a threesome with Rick's Sea Nemesis, Mr Nimbus.<\/p>\n

The Beth that we see through the series is not the same Beth. The version of Beth we see through Series one episodes 1 - 6, along with Jerry and Summer, is left behind in a dimension destroyed by Rick and Morty after a love potion turns everyone into Mantis-Like creatures. In a bid to reverse the effects, Rick accidentally turns everyone affected into Cronenbergs. unfortunately, Rick cannot or will not undo his error and so takes Morty to an Alternate Dimension where everything appears to be of the exact origin. However, in that version, Rick and Morty die in an accident in the garage, allowing the original Rick and Morty to take their place.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>
