Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama series based on the original The Karate Kid films by Robert Mark Kamen. The series was created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the 1984 film The Karate Kid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

Cobra Kai is the follow up to the Film Trilogy ' The Karate Kid'. Set 34 years in future the show follows Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso. Johnny, struggling to make a living as a handyman is fired from his job, after an argument with a customer, after incorrectly installing a wall-mounted TV. Daniel, on the other hand, is a successful car salesman and has a booming car dealership, it is clear from the start the resentment that Johnny has for Daniel.<\/p>\n

Johnny is arrested for beating up a group of bullies outside a convenience store, despite only beating them to save his teenage neighbour Miguel. Johnny is bailed out by his step-father who hands him a cheque and disowns him.<\/p>\n

In a state of depression Johnny drinks and drives and has a series of flashbacks to his childhood as seen in The Karate Kid I + II, while in this state he is hit by another vehicle and wrecks his car. His vehicle is towed to Larusso's car dealership, auto repair garage, and reluctantly Johnny goes to try and recover his vehicle before encountering Daniel. Daniel spots Johnny while he is in the dealership and offers to pay for the repairs, reluctantly Johnny accepts.<\/p>\n

Shortly after and for a multitude of reasons Johnny decides to re-open the Cobra Kai Dojo as the new Sensei, and train Miguel the way of Cobra Kai. The Reopening of Cobra Kai refuels the old rivalry between him and Daniel.<\/p>\n

This is further progressed as Johnny tries to enter Cobra Kai into the All-Valley Under-18 Karate Championships Tournament.<\/p>\n

The Series was launched on Youtube in 2018 and followed up with a second and third season, however, Youtube then made the decision to stop producing original programming. The show was a huge success and was quickly scooped up by Netflix who acquired the rights to the series in June 2020.<\/p>\n

The third season was released on Netflix on January 1st 2021. Netflix has confirmed that the series will return for a 4th season due to being released at the end of 2021 .<\/p>\n
