Seven series of the show, consisting of either 6 or 7 episodes, were broadcast by BBC 1 between 1981 and 1991. There were also 16 Christmas specials of the comedy series which were aired intermittently between 1981 and 2003. The comedy show was set in the working-class district of Peckham in south-east London. It followed the lives of shady but affable market trader Derek “Del Boy” Trotter (David Jason) and his sidekick and younger brother Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst).

The show was not an immediate hit. However, blessed with strong scriptwriting and a great supporting cast, viewing figures steadily grew over the years. The latter three series’ managed to pull in a regular domestic audience of 19 million. Moreover, a 1996 Christmas special, promoted as show’s final episode at the time of broadcast, attracted an audience of 24.3 million, setting a new record for a British sitcom.

Here’s five of the most hilarious moments from the much-loved sitcom:

“>

Enjoy!

Header Image Credit: CC BY-NC-ND 2.0 DEED/Flickr

Only Fools and Horses Only Fools and Horses is an iconic British sitcom that was created by comedy screenwriter John Sullivan (1946 – 2011).
