How Did YouTube Boxing Come About?

YouTube boxing has been around for a while now, and a lot of new faces have seen how much this has impacted the sport of boxing and those who have been involved. It’s amazing how a platform has managed to make a name for itself in the Boxing world without even meaning to… However, there are a lot of influencers that have gone from YouTube to boxing and this is how it all started!

In February 2018, two well known UK YouTubers had some issues with each other and decided to agree to do a boxing match to settle the argument, the fight was between KSI, a very well known YouTuber that has made a number 1 song on the official charts, and Joe Weller, another well-known YouTuber known for his ghost videos. A lot of YouTubers took part in the event with KSI and Joe Weller being the main event. After this KSI called out two American YouTubers that he hated at the time…

In August 2018, KSI went up against American Viner and YouTuber gone Actor, Logan Paul. This fight was the main event at the time, but also the main event with Deji, KSI’s little brother, and YouTuber, vs Jake Paul, Logan Paul’s little brother, and YouTuber and former Disney actor. The fight between Jake and Deji ended with Deji losing in the 5th round with his corner throwing in the towel and the fight between KSI and Logan Paul ended in a draw… bare in mind all fights so far are classed as amateur fights.

9th November 2019, KSI vs Logan Paul 2 happened apart from this time it was a Pro Boxing event, promoted by Matchroom Boxing by Eddie Hearn. The fight went the distance with a lot of people expecting Logan to win via KO… however KSI won via split decision. Only recently, Logan Paul stated that KSI won fair and square. But that’s not the end, this was the start of Jake Pauls redemption against KSI and everyone else.

From this day, Jake has fought 5 fights and won all 5 and with amazing fashion, by knocking out every single one of them… a great knockout ratio however many of them are against UFC fighters. Alongside this… There are other YouTube events such as the YouTube vs TikTok event that took place and recently another event similar called UK vs USA is coming out.
