Goodfellas One Of The Best Mafia Movies

1990 was a surprisingly good year for movies, however, none is more enduring than Goodfellas starring Robert De Niro – loosely based on the true-crime book Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family.  It remains one of the greatest films in the crime noir genre.

Critical Acclaim

Box office success was followed by a plethora of nominations and awards including an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor (Joe Pesci) as well as six other Academy Award Nominations and 5 nominations at the Golden Globes. nominations. However, its greatest success was at the BAFTAS (British Academy of Film and Television Arts), where it picked up 5 awards including Best Film and Best Director. Additionally, and probably more importantly for the general film-watching population, Goodfellas was named the year’s best film by most of the leading Film critics’ Associations.

Goodfellas is definitely one to add to the watch list for anyone who has not seen it and worth a second (or third) watch for those who have.
